Luke is here!

On Wednesday January 20th (on my brother in law Neil's birthday) we welcomed Lucas Reid DeManby into this world two weeks early. He was born at 8 lbs 10 oz and 21 inches. During the c-sections the doctors discovered Luke was actually in breech position. So what I thought was his booty in my ribs for the last couple months was actually his head. Poor little guy was probably sick of me pushing down on his head trying to get him out of my ribs.

He is a sweet little boy. He eats well, sleeps well and is pretty content for the most part. He is a little snuggle bug so I have been soaking that up while I can.

Recovery for me has been good. Trav, Lo and I are all adjusting to our new world. :) What a gift. Trav has been off work since Luke was born so that has been a blessing. He will go back to work soon. I am dreading that day. :) He is such a great Daddy and Husband. I am loving this time with my family. I know it goes by so fast.

Logan is adjusting to having a sibling. She LOVES being a big sister. We talk often about what Luke can and can't do at this age. Today she asked if she could throw her teddy bear at him so he could catch it. She asks us when is he going to walk and talk. She is ready for him to be a little older than he is. Today we had Lukes first doctors appointment, where he had to get a shot. Logan was with us and watched him get a shot. She actually cried harder then he did. She has compassion for her little brother I guess.

Well I am trying to listen to everyones advise of sleeping when the baby is sleeping so I am going to go do that...(actually both are sleeping) Big accomplish I think.

Here are some pictures of Luke....

Here is a picture of Logan while she was still in the hospital...Don't they look a like????

Numbers

First of all, my lack of blogging has been due to me having some issues with my computers and not being able to upload pictures. Frankly I love pictures. In my opinion they speak louder and sometimes are more expressive than words. Photography is like art. Speaking of art through photography...these pictures were taken by my dear friend Cori Derksen. www. derksenphotography.com

Needless to say, I haven't blogged because well...my art would be gone, and my words aren't very impressive.

But I have missed you blog world. I had to check in and make sure you were still here. Hello.

Now to my topic...

Numbers...

For some reason numbers have been on my mind lately. All sorts of numbers. For example...

30...Travis turned 30 this week. When I asked him if 30 felt any different than 29 he said "No, but I feel like you are supposed to know what you are doing with your life at 30." I think he's doing pretty good if you ask me.

9... the number of Trav's birthdays we have celebrated together. That is nearly 1/3 of my life. How can that be? How is that we have been together that long? I am thankful for these years. I am glad we meet young, fell in love and after 9 shared birthdays we look forward to many more.

9... is the number of days until my son will be born. Over the past month I have been nesting. I love it. I am pretty sure I never nested in my pregnancy with Logan or at least not to this degree. She was 4 weeks early so I don't think my body kicked into extreme nesting gear. My house/garage/car have never be so clean and organized as it is right now. And ....I am pretty sure it will never be this clean again. Especially once we enter the world of two kids. Travis I'm sure is growing weary of the extra projects my nesting has brought him.

37...is the number of weeks I am tomorrow. There was a time a few months ago, we didn't know if I would be able to make it to 28 weeks. To think the Lord has allowed me to carry Luke nearly full term is almost unbelievable. I am so thankful. I cannot tell you how excited I am to welcome and hold a 7-8 pound baby compared to a 2-3 pound baby had he been born 10 weeks ago.

2003...the year I married the man of dreams.

2006...the year Logan made me a mom.

2010....the year my son was born.

Can't wait to add to those numbers.
