Update #1: Marathon and Picture A Day

I was a little ambitious this year with my blog. I made a few commitments on here that has been really hard for me to let go. I know this sounds silly but USUALLY when I commit to something, I do it with 100% of my energy and fulfill my goal. I guess the Lord thought that was a funny, undesirable characteristic in me. Because He has been "helping" me let things go.

Let's just say I probably took too much on this semester. I forget sometimes that I cannot do what I once was able to do. Since having kids, my plate is frankly.... smaller. And so is my energy, creativity, memory and I bunch of other things that if I wasn't so tired I could think of. My family gets the best of me and most days what's left looks like a bad crock pot dish.

So to the update....
I have run into people who follow our blog and they have asked, "so how's the marathon training going" or "what happened to the daily pictures."

Yeah. Something had to go. Although I am still working out most days, training for the marathon is not one of them. And I am still taking pictures daily but finding the time to post them has been another issue. Well there it is. I feel relieved.

Hopefully the picture makes you smile.

What Lo and Luke are saying...

I wanted to jot down a few things that Lo has been saying lately because I am sure I will forget by next week.

Out of nowhere as we are driving Logan asked..."Does God use a telescope to see us from up there."

I had a pork roast in the crock pot and it started to smell the whole house up as crock pot meals do and Logan came to me and said, "Mom it smells like beef in here." I didn't know she knew what beef even was let alone how it smelt.

Logan and I went shopping the other day together. A fun first for us. I was trying on some shirts and she was in the dressing room with me. I put on a tighter fitting shirt and she said, "Mommy thats not a winner. That looks like a pregnant lady shirt." Yes she was referring to my not flat stomach. Awesome. Gotta love a child's honesty.

Logan asked if she could have some yogurt right before bed because she was hungry. I said sure and she said, "Mom you are the bestest mommy in the whole wide world! You make the bestest chocolate chip cookies! Not sure where the last part had come from since I hadn't made cookies in weeks.

One of Logan's favorite lines right now. "Jesus died and rised (yes rised) again and He won't do it again!"

Whenever I have my sweats and tennis shoes on...."Mommy are you going to sexercise?"

Luke's favorite words....(14 1/2 months)
Ball, Mommy (yes...so sad its no longer mama), Dada, hi, diaper, dog, car....and a whole lot of other "words" we have yet to translate. :)

Life is Messy....

I am warning you. Todays pictures is totally gross. So if you have a weak stomach....don't stroll down. Consider yourself warned.

I found the title of this post and picture to be fitting for my mood right now. As I sat down to read and respond to emails tonight I couldn't help but think...life is messy. It's hard. It's unglamorous.

I am so thankful that the Lord doesn't leave us here all by ourselves to do it alone. I am thankful that no matter how much I mess up, He is patient, gracious and willing to embrace me again.
